Yolanda Araya, 90, passed away on January 31, 2013 at Sandy
Health & Rehab in Sandy, Utah. Yolanda was born on July
28, 1922 in Ovalle, Chile. Yolanda married Manuel Araya
in Ovalle, Chile and together raised a large family. Yolanda
and Manuel moved to the United States in September 1982
and were sealed for time and all eternity in the Provo temple
in 1985. Yolanda was a Latter Day Saint pioneer joining
the Church in April 1967 in Antofagasta, Chile. Since then
and until her death, she has served faithfully in many church
callings with a special love for the temple.
Yolanda is survived by her children, Ines Vasquesz of Kearns,
Utah, Gladys Lemes of Logan, Utah, Oriana Reyes of Sandy,
Utah, Juan Araya of Calera, Chile, Margarita Pack of Vinton,
Virginia, Soledad Herrera of West Jordan, Utah, Alba Payne
of Roswell, Georgia, Marco Araya of Oakwood, Ohio, and Juan
Carlos Araya of Antofagasta, Chile, 26 grandchildren and
22 great-grandchildren. Yolanda was preceded in death by
her beloved husband, Manuel on March 27, 1985, and her little
18 month old daughter Elena Yolanda in 1945.
Funeral services will be held at the Heritage 5th Ward
in the West Jordan Heritage Stake, 6772 South 3420 West,
West Jordan, Utah, 84084 at 11:00 am on February 5, 2013.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to
funeral services at the church. Burial will follow the funeral
at Salt Lake City Cemetery.
