Benton LaRay Blake
1929 ~ 2017

Benton LaRay Blake, age 87, of American Fork, Utah passed away on August 16, 2017 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He was born in Pima, Graham County, Arizona, September 22, 1929, the son of Judge Benjamin and Laura (Anderson) Blake. He graduated from Pima High School in 1947 and Eastern Arizona College in 1949. After serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North Central Mission, he married Helen Jean Owens in the Mesa Arizona Temple on September 1, 1951. They together attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, where Benton received his Bachelor degree in Business Administration and later his Juris Doctor Degree in Law.

After completing college, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he spent his professional career. He first worked for Transamerica Corporation and then later entered the private practice of law, specializing in Real Estate and Family Law. In 1994, after retiring from practicing law, he moved to American Fork, Utah. He and his wife, Jean, served missions for their church in the Minnesota Minneapolis Mission and the Utah Provo Mission.

His son, Benjamin Blake, of Midland, Texas, predeceased him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean, five daughters: Karen (Gary) Sell of Highland, Utah, Doris (Paul) Blackham of Eagle, Idaho, Jeana (Michael) Lyons of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Janice (Lee) Hutchings of Lehi, Utah, Julie Blake of Glendale, Arizona, and two sons: Stuart (Gayle) Blake of Richmond, Utah, Stephan (Cathlene) Blake of Riverton, Utah, and a daughter-in-law, LaRae Blake of Pleasant Grove, Utah. His posterity also includes 44 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the Manila LDS Stake Center Chapel, 850 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah. Family and friends may call on Monday, August 21, 2017 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah, and again on Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church prior to services. Interment will be held at Highland City Cemetery.
