1925 ~ 2014
Ernest Brog passed away on November 10, 2014 in Cedar. Hills,
UT. He was born November 23, 1925, the first child of Ernest
and Martha Kaufman Brog in Driggs, ID. His grandparents
on his mothers side, the Kaufmans, immigrated from Switzerland.
His father Ernest, a native of Switzerland, came to America
at the age of 25.
After graduating high school, he went to work at the Upper
Star Valley Swiss Cheese Association in Osmond, WY where
he managed the factory for his father after his Uncle Fred
retired. He managed the Star Valley Swiss Cheese Company
with his father from 1949 to 1956. He then became General
Manager after Ernest retired and stayed until 1972. At that
time he went to work for Caribou Four Corners (Maverik Country
Stores) and was there until retirement.
He received his graduation diploma from International Correspondence
School in Scranton, PA in the field of business administration
while managing the cheese factory. He was very proud of
earning the Highest Award of
Achievement in the Dale Carnegie course that he took from
On March 29, 1946 he married Ruth Maurice Nield in the
Idaho Falls Temple. They had two daughters and two sons,
Freida Brog Child, Valerie Lucille Brog Roberts (Randy),
Lance Nield Brog, and Shane F. Brog. He was very proud of
his seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Frank was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter Day Saints and held many callings throughout the
years, enjoying especially his two years as Star Valley
Stake Mission President. He also enjoyed yard work, fishing,
hunting, and photography. He took great joy in working on
and restoring his 1961 Mercedes Benz diesel and maintaining
his home and property in Afton, WY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers,
Larry and Paul, and two sisters, Gayle and Ora.

pm at the Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American
