1922 ~ 2013
Robert (Bob) Callister passed from this life on April 24,
2013, as a result of complications associated with old age.
Born June 15, 1922, Bob lived a full life, graduating from
East High School and the University of Utah in Salt Lake
City, and gaining a Master’s degree from Stanford
University in Palo Alto, CA. He spent several years in the
Armed Services during World War II, where he served in combat
in Europe. He worked for Del Monte Corporation in San Francisco
during his entire working life, filling various managerial
Bob was very much a family man and was a devoted husband
to his wife Jean. He loved his three children and their
spouses: James R. Callister (Nancy) of Windsor, CO, Carol
Callister of Lehi, UT, and Richard D. Callister (Vickie)
of Alpine, UT. He adored his ten grandchildren.
He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints throughout his life. He served as a missionary for
the Church in Great Britain in the late forties and as bishop
of the Redwood City Ward in the fifties. Bob will be remembered
for his creative enterprises, such as the Joe Peters phenomenon,
and for his dedication to the many friendships he enjoyed
throughout his long life. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, April
29, 2013 at the Highland 25th LDS Ward Chapel, 5335 West
11200 North, Highland, UT. 84003. Friends and family may
call from 10:30 am to 11:30 am prior to the services at
the church. Interment will be held at Highland City Cemetery
in Highland, UT. immediately following the services. In
lieu of flowers, a donation to a favorite charity is suggested,
such as the Humanitarian Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints.
