William Robert Callister
1922 ~ 2013

William Robert (Bob) Callister passed from this life on April 24, 2013, as a result of complications associated with old age. Born June 15, 1922, Bob lived a full life, graduating from East High School and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, and gaining a Master’s degree from Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. He spent several years in the Armed Services during World War II, where he served in combat in Europe. He worked for Del Monte Corporation in San Francisco during his entire working life, filling various managerial responsibilities.

Bob was very much a family man and was a devoted husband to his wife Jean. He loved his three children and their spouses: James R. Callister (Nancy) of Windsor, CO, Carol Callister of Lehi, UT, and Richard D. Callister (Vickie) of Alpine, UT. He adored his ten grandchildren.

He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his life. He served as a missionary for the Church in Great Britain in the late forties and as bishop of the Redwood City Ward in the fifties. Bob will be remembered for his creative enterprises, such as the Joe Peters phenomenon, and for his dedication to the many friendships he enjoyed throughout his long life. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Highland 25th LDS Ward Chapel, 5335 West 11200 North, Highland, UT. 84003. Friends and family may call from 10:30 am to 11:30 am prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, UT. immediately following the services. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a favorite charity is suggested, such as the Humanitarian Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
