1907 ~ 2012
was born February 16, 1907 in Colonial Juarez, Chihuahua,
Mexico. She died March 20, 2012 in Cedar Hills Utah at the
age of 105.
She was one of twelve children born to Samuel Edwin McClellan
and Bertha Mariah Lewis. Her Ancestors were pioneers who
settled the Mormon Colonies in Mexico. Her family was driven
out during the Exodus and later returned to their home.
Lula attended school and graduated from the Juarez Academy
in Colonial Juarez. She went to BYU and graduated in 1929.
She met and was courted by Jacob Calvin Croft in Duchesne,
Utah where they were both teachers. They were married May
22, 1931 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Lula taught homemaking and elementary school for many years.
She was a master gardener and quilter having made over 500
quilts. She is survived by one sister, Ione Taylor of Albuquerque,
New Mexico. Her children are Mack Croft of Highland Utah,
Mary Cram Jones of American Fork Utah, Kent Croft of Hillsboro
Oregon, Vivian Best of Provo Utah and Clair Croft of Provo
Utah. She has almost two hundred descendants.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2012
at 3:00 pm, in the Sharon Park 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 225
East 200 North, Orem, Utah. Family and friends may call
Saturday afternoon from 2:00-3:00 pm prior to services at
the church, Interment will take place Monday morning at
10:00 am in the Provo City Cemetery. Funeral Director -
