LaRae McCullough Croft passed away in Alpine, Utah on Monday,
March 16, 2015. She was 79 years old LaRae, as she was known
to her family and friends, was born to Jesse Dee McCullough
and Anna Mae McQueen McCullough on May 7, 1935 in Salt Lake
City, Utah. LaRae spent an idyllic childhood in Salt Lake
City and later Richland, Washington, where her family moved
due to her father’s involvement with the Manhattan
Project. As a girl, LaRae enjoyed softball, art, and dancing.
She was the vice president of her junior class, graduated
sixth in the Richland High School Class of 1953, and received
a scholarship to Brigham Young University. At BYU, she majored
in elementary education and minored in English. She graduated

on July 9, 1958. During their early married life, the couple
lived in Georgia, Tennessee, and California. They later
moved to North Dakota, where they lived for 21 years, and
Highland, Utah, where they lived for 28 years.
LaRae spent her life in service to those around her. She
cherished her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, and faithfully served in many callings,
including those of Relief Society homemaking counselor and
education counselor, seminary teacher, Primary president,
Young Women president, and Gospel Doctrine teacher. Motherhood
was the joy of LaRae’s life, and she lovingly raised
three daughters and two sons. In her later life, “Mrs.
