Anna LaRae Croft
1935 ~ 2015

Anna LaRae McCullough Croft passed away in Alpine, Utah on Monday, March 16, 2015. She was 79 years old LaRae, as she was known to her family and friends, was born to Jesse Dee McCullough and Anna Mae McQueen McCullough on May 7, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah. LaRae spent an idyllic childhood in Salt Lake City and later Richland, Washington, where her family moved due to her father’s involvement with the Manhattan Project. As a girl, LaRae enjoyed softball, art, and dancing. She was the vice president of her junior class, graduated sixth in the Richland High School Class of 1953, and received a scholarship to Brigham Young University. At BYU, she majored in elementary education and minored in English. She graduated from BYU in May 1957 and moved to San Diego, California, to teach school.

In San Diego, LaRae met her future husband, Mack Gerald Croft, who was stationed in the navy. LaRae and Mack were married for time and all eternity in the Logan Utah Temple on July 9, 1958. During their early married life, the couple lived in Georgia, Tennessee, and California. They later moved to North Dakota, where they lived for 21 years, and Highland, Utah, where they lived for 28 years.

LaRae spent her life in service to those around her. She cherished her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and faithfully served in many callings, including those of Relief Society homemaking counselor and education counselor, seminary teacher, Primary president, Young Women president, and Gospel Doctrine teacher. Motherhood was the joy of LaRae’s life, and she lovingly raised three daughters and two sons. In her later life, “Mrs. Croft” taught school at Lehi Elementary and Geneva Elementary, where she loved her role as a reading specialist. LaRae touched the lives of countless students, friends, and family members, who will remember her for her warm smile, faithful heart, tender disposition, and genuine love of all those around her.

LaRae was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Gerald Croft. She is survived by four siblings—Donald Dee McCullough (Wilma Lee, deceased), Kenneth Allen McCullough, Robert Linn McCullough (Oralee), and Laura Jean McCullough Davis (Donald), as well as five children—Rebecca Ann Croft Christensen (Blake), David Alan Croft (Juan), Linda Diane Croft Seeley (James), Donald Eugene Croft (Gabriela), Barbara Jean Croft Barzee (Michael), and eleven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015, at 11:00 am at the Highland 16th LDS Ward Chapel, 10962 North 6400 West, Highland, Utah. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm and also at an additional viewing on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the church.
