1917 ~ 2012
aunt, sister and friend, Darlene Peck Dyson passed away
on Saturday, August 25, 2012 of causes incident to age.
She was 94 . Darlene was born to Leo Augustus and Hazel
Maude Goddard Peck on November 2, 1917 in Provo, Utah. She
was the fourth of nine children.
Darlene graduated from Provo High School and took a job
at Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City. She transferred to Hill
Air Force Base when it opened at the start of World War
II. While working there she met and married an airman, Woodrow
"Woody" Dyson. She transferred to Bliss Air Field
near El Paso, Texas when her husband was assigned there.
During her many years as a government employee, she received
numerous honors and awards.
Woody died in 1988. Darlene returned to Utah seven years
later. She made her home with here sister, Bernice Forsyth
in Edgemont. There she was an active member of the LDS church
and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Darlene has lived at the Manila Country Home for the past
three years. We, her family would like to express our deep
gratitude to Diane and Dave Gibb and their fine staff for
their loving and tender care of our aunt during the last
few years of her life while she was under their care.
She is survived by sisters, Vera (Charles) Colohan, Faye
Thorne and Wanda Draper, sister-in-law, Dora Peck and many
loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by
her husband, parents, sisters, Bernice Forsyth, Lois Provonsha
and brothers, Glen, Jarvis and Ronald Peck.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 30, 2012
at 11:00 am in the Warenski Funeral Home Chapel located
at 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah. Family and
friends may call Thursday morning from 10:00-10:45 am prior
to services. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial
Park located at 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City,
