Pond Forsyth, born September 29, 1935 to Sterling Clyde
and Abigail Pond Forsyth in Price, Utah passed peacefully
in his sleep Thursday, September 7, 2017. One of four children,
he grew up exploring the hills of Spring Canyon. His adult
life was dedicated to serving others. He served an honorable
mission in Hawaii. On his return he married Elsie May Bender
on December 6, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. He earned a
Master’s degree in Social Work from the University
of Utah and worked in California, Utah, Minnesota, and Montana.
He retired from LDS Family Services in 1998. Gary and Elsie
served together in the California Los Angeles Mission. They
also served a three-year assignment in the Charleston Assisted
Living Center for the Cedar Hills West Stake.
Gary is survived by his sister Linda (Richard) Wilkinson,
his wife, Elsie, his five children, Elizabeth (Michael)
Murphy, Matthew (Sherry) Forsyth, Andrew (Pamela) Forsyth,
Robert (Jodi) Forsyth, Sara (Richard) Hawkins, fourteen
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother David,
sister Suzanne, and beloved grandson, Ethan Forsyth.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday,
September 16, 2017 at the Cedar Hills 6th LDS Ward Chapel,
9737 Chesterfield Drive, Cedar Hills, Utah. Family and friends
may call on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00
pm at the Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American
Fork, Utah, and again on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30
am at the church prior to services. Interment will be at
the Redwood Memorial Cemetery in Salt Lake City.
