-- 1948 ~ 2013 --
Ann Gardner, known to all those who loved her as "Dee
Dee", returned to her heavenly home on May 1, 2013
after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born to Robert
Irving and Ann Marie Ellis Ward in Madison Wisconsin on
August 17, 1948. Dee Dee married Dairrel G. Gardner in the
Oakland LDS Temple on November 21, 1970 after a whirlwind
courtship that continued through their nearly 43 years of
marriage. They have 5 children and 16 grandchildren.
Dee Dee loved people, was "Best Friend" to nearly
everyone she met and was incapable of speaking ill of anyone.
She loved her family above all else and was tenacious in
teaching and guiding them to "choose the right"
and "return with honor". Service was her insatiable
passion which resulted in her 25 years at LDS Girls Camp,
11 years as an Early Morning Seminary Teacher, and leadership
callings in every women’s organization in her LDS
Wards and Stakes. She was a creative mastermind with artistic
skills to craft just the right visual display for every
occasion. She was a superlative cook and part of "Three
Angels Catering" in Crystal Lake Illinois until cancer
took her other two Angels. She loved her Lord and Savior
and her greatest unfulfilled desire was to serve a mission.
We are confident she is now fulfilling that goal.
She is preceded in death by her parents and leaves behind
her brothers Greg (Elena) Ward, and Geoff (Bobby) Ward;
husband Dairrel G. Gardner; children Tiffanie Gardner, Payslie
(Joe) Jackson, Clayton (Cheryl) Gardner, Cassie (Derric)
Rykert, Barbara (Shawn) Shokouhi; 16 grandchildren and many
brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May
4, 2013 at the Highland 38th LDS Ward Chapel, 5853 West
10400 North, Highland, UT. 84003. Friends and family may
call from 12:00 noon to 1:30 pm prior to the services at
the church. Interment will be held at Highland City Cemetery
immediately following the services.
