Eugene B Garrett
1931 ~ 2014

Eugene B Garrett, (Gene), was born in Los Angeles, California July 28, 1931 and passed away at home on March 17, 2014. His childhood years were spent in LaCanada with his parents Eugenia Vee and J Earl Garrett where he helped with younger sister Patricia and tagged after older brother Jay.

He met his eternal sweetheart, Norine Peterson while attending BYU where he served as Pep Activities Chairman and graduated with a Business and Marketing degree. They married in September of 1954 and raised and outstanding family together including: Velyn (Chris) Anderson, Craig (Ellen) Garrett, Cherie (David) Schetselaar, Lance (Rebecca) Garrett, Darin (Diane) Garrett, Sabrina (Tom) Cantrell, Marc (Jennilyn) Garrett. Daughter Kristine who married Randy Farrish passed away in 1979 and Gene was anxious for their happy reunion in Heaven. These children have blessed their parents with 37 wonderful beloved grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren to date.

Gene loved the Lord and faithfully served two times as Bishop and as counselor in the Stake Presidency in El Cajon, California, along with other callings while living in LaCanada and Carlsbad, California. He served a mission to Western Canada, early in his youth and later a mission to Washington D.C. South with Norine plus service missions to the MTC and Church Conference Center.

He served for a time in the US Air Force as a B47 pilot and later worked in the Real Estate and Mortgage industries. The couple have loved living in Alpine since 2001.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014, at 11:00 am in the Mountainville 5th LDS Ward Chapel, 910 South High Bench Road, Alpine, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 am prior to services at the church. Interment will follow services at Alpine City Cemetery.
