Richard Lee Haws
0000 ~ 2016

Richard Lee Haws, 51, died Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at his home in Highland, UT, the result of a 3-year battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Born Nov. 25, 1964 in Murray, UT to Joseph Hugh and Deanna Lee Haws, Richard was the 4th of 6 children. He married Patricia (Trish) Jagodic on July 7, 2003 in Riverton, UT, and they were later sealed in the Mount Timpanogos Temple on March 28, 2015. Rich was the father of four children.

Though he fought a strong battle with this horrible disease that slowly deteriorated his body, Rich will be remembered mostly for being a loving family man. He loved horses, outdoor adventures, hiking in the canyon, playing card games and was a master of backgammon. Rich developed a close, intimate relationship with God and constantly encouraged his family to let go of petty differences and learn to forgive and love each other.

Rich is preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife Trish, children Amber (John) Zoudlik (San Tan Valley, AZ), Brittney (Ehren) Litzenberger (Gilbert, AZ), Amber Zimtbaum (Lehi, UT) Connor Haws (Phoenix, AZ) and Codie Haws. He loved seeing his girls become amazing mothers, and loved being called Pop by his 4 adoring grandchildren: his brown-eyed girl Avery (6), Scarlett (3), Nixen (2) and Brayden (7mo).

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Highland West Stake Center Chapel, 11605 North 6000 West, Highland, Utah. A closed casket reception will be held at the church from 1:30 to 2:00 pm prior to services. The public is welcome to view a video tribute of Rich’s life that will be playing in a separate room in the church prior to the services. An inurnment will take place at a later date in the Highland City Cemetery.

Our family is kindly asking that in lieu of flowers consider making a donation to honor the life of our dad by helping his legacy live on through helping raise funds for the others who are suffering from ALS.
