Audrey Cynthia Stevens Truter Howden died
suddenly Tuesday 12th of February, 2013 from causes incident
to age at the home of Buddy and Sherry Dewey in Highland,
Utah. Born October 9th, 1932 in Middleburg, Cape Province,
South Africa to Johanna Williams and Cecil Truter, she married
James Alexander Howden on February 6, 1954 (later divorced).
They joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
on 27th April, 1958 and she served faithfully in many callings
and helped build up many branches (specifically baking for
weeks on end to raise funds for building chapels through
bake sales). She worked as a secretary for many years and
joined her family in the United States, later becoming a
citizen. We are grateful that she got her wish to die rapidly
and not linger in illness.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and stepfather.
She is survived by her brother David (Shirley) Stevens,
Swellendam, South Africa; Children: Patricia (Lee) Stokes,
American Fork, Utah; Atholl (Charmaine) Malad, Idaho; Matthew,
Mesa, Arizona; Timothy, Alpine, Utah; Christopher (Jacqui),
Highland, Utah; Corryn, Mesa, Arizona; and Sharon, Alpine,
Utah; 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, of which
she was very proud. We shall miss her cheery jokes and her
delight in stories. She loved to read and instilled a love
for reading in all of her children. She had a wonderful
sense of the ridiculous, and enjoyed traveling.
Funeral services will be held at the LDS chapel located
at 5848 West 11000 North, Highland on Saturday 16th February
2013, at 3 p.m. Respecting her wishes, there will be no
viewing. Funeral under the direction of the Warenski Funeral
Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the
Perpetual Education Fund or the Missionary Fund or the Humanitarian
Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
