C. Humes peacefully passed away at home on January 3, 2013
in American Fork, Utah. He was born in Fruitland, Utah to
Alma Joseph Humes and Elva Young on March 16, 1928 the third
child of nine. He was educated in Duchesne, Utah and in
his later teens, moved to American Fork and worked at the
turkey farms where he met the love of his life, LaDenna
Conder. They fell in love and were married on October 30,
1947 in Duchesne, Utah. They later solemnized their marriage
on September 25, 1993 in the Manti Temple.
He worked for Geneva Steel for 32 years and moved up the
ranks as a Spell Foreman and shortly was promoted to General
Foreman in the Rolling Mills Department.
In 1995, Allen and LaDenna were made Stake Missionaries,
performing many new member baptisms. Shortly thereafter,
dad was made a Stake Missionary leader and they performed
many accounts at the temple till health slowed them down.
While missionaries, they met a young missionary and brought
him into the home and family. He took on the Humes name
from them, his name Chris Molina (Humes).
Allen was an avid homebuilder in his spare time and loved
the outdoors; hunting, fishing, etc. He also loved his home
out in Fruitland in the warm months, where you could find
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, his parents,
3 sisters, 1 brother, 3 brothers-in-law, 1 sister-in-law,
a great grandson, and a daughter-in-law Melinda Humes. He
is survived by 3 sons and 1 daughter; Allen Joseph Humes,
Jeanette (Tom) Kummer, Jay D (Cindy) Humes of American Fork
and Chris (Joy) M. Humes of the Philippines. He is also
survived by 21 grandkids and 31 great-grandkids as well
as 2 sisters; Ella Mae Batchelor, Norma Jean Lott, and 2
brothers; Robert and James Humes and their spouses besides
many others that called him grandpa. Dad, we will surely
miss you and we know your in a better place now. So, ole
Cotton Top, so long till we meet again, we all love you.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday,
January 10, 2013 at the American Fork 6th Ward LDS Chapel,
320 North 100 East in American Fork. Friends may call from
6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday evening at the Warenski Funeral
Home, 1776 North 900 East in American Fork Utah, and from
9:30 to 10:30 am prior to funeral services at the church.
