Robert Hurtado passed away unexpectedly February 16th, 2017
from an accidental drug overdose. Jory was born June 8th,
1976 in Vicenza, Italy to Jess and Joan Hurtado.
Jory grew up in American Fork, Utah. As a young boy Jory
loved to go on trips with his family to Lake Powell and
attend football games at the University of Utah. Jory continued
to enjoy those activities throughout his life. Jory followed
in his older brother's footsteps and played soccer for American
Fork High School and joined the American Fork High School
Marching Band playing trombone. Jory served an LDS mission
to Taichung, Taiwan. Jory married Sarah Busker in 2000 and
they had a beautiful baby girl, Alyvia, in 2003. Jory graduated
with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Utah.
Jory and Sarah later divorced and maintained a close friendship.
Jory battled depression and drug addiction in his later
years and was recently very proud of his many sobriety tags
he kept with him at all times.
Our fondest memories of Jory are of him being a goof ball,
fearless, never backing away from a challenge, easy to laugh,
the center of attention, and demonstrating his incredibly
high tolerance to pain. Jory enjoyed painting, watching
movies, listening to music, playing games, and being with
his daughter Alyvia, who was the love of Jory's life. Alyvia
fondly remembers adventurous tubing with Jory at Lake Powell,
going to movies with him at the theatre, and playing video
games together. We know Jory is devastated knowing his time
with Alyvia has been cut short. We are comforted knowing
Jory will be her guardian angel and continue to watch over
Jory is survived by his daughter, Alyvia, as well as his
parents, Jess and Joan, and siblings: Joel (Kristie), Jared
(Emily) and Janae Nelson (Jason). Our family is comforted
knowing Jory was welcomed in Heaven by his loving grandparents.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 23,
2017 at 10:30 am at the Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North
900 East, America Fork, Utah. Family and friends may call
from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Alyvia
Grace Hurtado at the University of Utah Credit Union to
be used for her education.
