1927 ~ 2016
Hamblin Ivins, age 89, passed away peacefully Sunday December
4, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born August
23, 1927 on Vine Street in Murray Utah to H. Grant and Bertha
Hamblin Ivins. Guy graduated from Murray High School while
serving in the US Navy, and continued his education at BYU
where he met Norma Rae Wells. They were married Sept 2,
1950. Guy graduated with an economics degree from BYU and
worked at various jobs during the first years of their marriage.
He owned and operated several successful car washes and
co-owned House of Ivins in American Fork with his wife,
Norma for many years.
Guy held many government positions and was very active
in politics as a life-long Democrat. He worked as the Utah
County Assessor, Head of the Office of Economic Opportunity
and was appointed the director of Utah Highways and Right
of Ways. Guy and Norma lived their entire married life in
American Fork. Guy was one of the original members of Alpine
Country Club and later served as president. He loved to
play golf with his many golf buddies and shared the love
of the game with his family. He was a member of the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.
Guy is survived by his wife, Norma; children: Raymond (Christine)
Ivins, Mark (Lynnette) Ivins, Robyn (Derek) Price. 11 grandchildren;
5 ½ great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by his parents and his brothers Heber Grant & Tony Ivins.
Guy was “happy as a huntin' dog.”
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday,
December 10, 2016 at the American Fork 14th LDS Ward Chapel,
1100 East 400 North, American Fork, Utah. Family and friends
may call from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 9, 2016
at the Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American
Fork, Utah, and again on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 am
at the church prior to services. Interment will be at the
American Fork City Cemetery.
