1940 ~ 2014
Robert Jackson, age 74, of Alpine, died May 15, 2014 peacefully
at his home surrounded by those who love him.
He was born February 25, 1940, in Murray, to Robert Lewis
Jackson and Farol Ballard Richardson. He grew up in the
States of California, Wyoming, and Utah. He graduated from
Granite High School in 1958 and attended Utah State, University
of Utah, and Salt Lake Community College. On April 16, 1965,
he married Ellen Linda Higley. They were later sealed on
June 15, 1967 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He worked at
Kennecott Copper Refinery for 32 years. He also worked as
a Master Carpenter.
Howard is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints. He served in many callings, but scouting was his
love and passion. He spent over 40 years in scouting. Twenty-seven
of those years were spent as the Eagle District Advancement
Chairman working with over a thousand young men in obtaining
their Eagle Scout Rank. He attended Wood Badge and earned
his Wood Badge beads in November 1986. He was also awarded
the Silver Beaver Award in September 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; his 5 children, Lonie
(Doug) Rial, Lance (Leora), Shane (Leann), James (Karina),
and Desiree (Trent) Newbold; his 25 + grandchildren LOL;
10 great-grandchildren, and two brothers Gary (Linda) and
Dave (Karen). He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers
Bob and Duane, and sister Shirley. The family would like
to thank Brighton Hospice for all their love and caring
in his final days.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014
at 11:00 am at the Alpine 12th LDS Ward Chapel, 910 South
Highbench Road, Alpine. Family and friends may call on Monday,
May 19, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and again on Tuesday from
9:30 to 10:30 at the church. Interment will be held at the
Alpine City Cemetery following services.
