Donald Jex, 71, died at home in Alpine on Wednesday, December
30, 2015 from a short battle with cancer.
He was born on May 11, 1944 in Oakland, California to J.
Lorin and Laneeda Jex. He grew up in Provo and Orem, graduating
from Orem High School in 1962. From 1963 to 1965, he served
in the Central States Mission. Jim graduated from BYU in
1969 having lettered all four years on the BYU track team.
He married Kathy Robins in 1966 in the Salt Lake Temple.
They have 6 children and 20 grandchildren.
Jim retired from the Utah State Developmental Center, after
working with the disabled for 37 ½ years. He has
served on the board of MRAU of Utah for many years. After
retiring, he worked at Bonneville Nursery. He has served
in many callings in the LDS church, including Bishop, Branch
President at the MTC, and Branch President of the Paradise
Branch in Alpine.
He is survived by his wife Kathy, children: David (Becky),
Heidi (Doug) Crockett, John (Brenda), Emily (Spencer) Butler,
Scott (Nancy), and 19 grandchildren. Jim is preceded in
death by his parents, a daughter, Diana, and a granddaughter,
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016
at 11:00 am at the Mountainville 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 165
North 100 East, Alpine, Utah. Family and friends may call
Friday, January 8, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Warenski
Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah,
and again on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church
prior to services. Interment will be held at the Alpine

of James Thurman Reed and Mae Euphemia Holmquist. Catherine had three
younger brothers; Robert Joseph, James Thomas, and Richard Allen Reed.
