Ronald LaVerl Jones
1945 ~ 2017

Our wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend Ronald LaVerl Jones left on his final journey back to his Father in Heaven on February 20, 2017. He died in the arms of his loving wife surrounded by his family.

Ron was born in the back of a car on the way to Lehi on April 10, 1945 to Paul M and Agnus Marie Burnes Jones of Pleasant Grove. He was the third of 5 children. As a child, he loved fishing, camping, hunting, and scouting all done as a family which included his brothers and sisters, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. Ron graduated from Pleasant Grove high school in 1963. At 18 he went into Utah Army National Guard. He served an LDS mission in Argentina and graduated from BYU in Engineering design. On May 16, 1968 he married Susan Chidester in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their first home in Pleasant Grove. They had 3 children, Adam, Annalisa and Angela. In 1978 moved to beautiful Highland, in a home that Ron built. After losing his wife to cancer he married Sharon Allen Spears on Sept. 21, 1990, adding 6 more children to the family. They were later sealed on Sept. 23, 2015 in the Mt Timpanogos Temple.

Taking an early retirement, they were able to serve a wonderful mission at the Heber Valley Girls Camp and do some extensive traveling along with many camping trips which both loved. They loved working side by side in their yard and garden, making it a beautiful place. Ron loved life and being able to share it with his two sweethearts and their children and grandchildren. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in many positions. He was always willing to help and serve others.

He was preceded in death by his wife Susan Chidester Jones, a son Daniel Spears, and 2 sisters Janice Mohetau and Barbara Smith. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Allen Jones, children: Michael Spears (Toni), Adam Jones, Joshua Spears (Brandi), Annalisa Beck (Dana), Amy Spears, Samuel Spears, Angela Stockwell (Shane), Rebecca May (Ian), JR and Bertha Cooper, mother and father in law, 16 wonderful grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Intermountain Hospice for the care they provided.
