Catherine Helen Kelley
1924 ~ 2015

Cathy Kelley passed away peacefully at the Ashford Assisted Living & Memory Care Facility in Highland, Utah on December 31, 2015. She is survived by her brother, James R. Walton of Fresno, California, and by her three children, John Walton Kelley and his wife Sherry Ann of Alpine, Utah, Pamela Jaunin and her husband Jeann-Pierre of La Neuveville, Switzerland, and Karen Kelley Piacentini and her husband David Mirkin of Avon, Connecticut. Cathy also has 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Born to Estey and Helen Walton in Sanger, CA on March 14, 1924, Cathy joined the Alpha Chi Omega sorority at UC Berkeley where she met Melvin Harry Kelley. They were married July 7, 1944 in Annapolis, MD after Mel completed Officer Candidate School for the US Navy. After Mel served in the Pacific during World War II, they settled in the San Francisco bay area. His career with Chevron enabled them to live in various other places throughout the world including Belgium, London, British Columbia, New York and Los Angeles. In 1982, shortly before Mel retired as an executive in the finance department at Chevron, they moved to the Rossmoor community in Walnut Creek, California, where they lived until Mel passed away in 2014.

Cathy and Mel enjoyed playing bridge and golf and they were long time members of the Orinda Country Club. They also participated in the Rossmoor Lawn Bowling Club. They enjoyed attending the CAL games for many years.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Sanger Historical Society at 1770 7th Street, Sanger, California 93657.
