1943 ~ 2018
(Les) David Larson (74) passed away peacefully in his home
on the morning of January 16, 2018. He was a beloved husband,
father, grandfather, and brother.
He was born on October 3, 1943 in Malad, Idaho to Stanley
Larson and LaVaun Gardner Larson. He married Peggy Hinckley
on August 31, 1967 in the Salt Lake Temple. He served as
a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was an active member of the American Legion.
Les was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-Day Saints throughout his life. He served a mission
in South Africa. He served in many positions on both ward
and stake levels including counselor in bishoprics, ward
and stake clerk, and high priest group leader. He also enjoyed
serving as a temple worker in the Jordan River temple with
Les graduated from BYU in May of 1968 with a Bachelor’s
degree in Accounting. He worked as an accountant for most
of his life before retiring.
Les was a passionate BYU fan. He loved going to football
and basketball games with his children and grandkids. He
loved to travel around the globe with his family and friends.
He was an avid gardener and loved spending time outside
working in his yard. His humor, kindness, and loving service
touched all that he knew. He was known best for his service
to his beloved wife Peggy and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy, and his children: David
(Linda) Larson, Julie (Greg) Cook, Paul (Amber) Larson,
Mike (Mary Anne) Larson, Kevin (Natalie) Larson, Danny (Nicole)
Larson, and 29 grandchildren; his brother Dean (Paula) Larson,
sister Joan (Guillermo) Naumann, brother Gary (Marilyn)
Larson, and brother Robert (Janese) Larson. He was preceded
in death by his sister, Doreen Larson and brother-in-law
Floyd Larson, his brother, John Larson, and grandson, Asher
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018
at 1:00 p.m. at the LDS church located at 239 East 1100
South in American Fork, Utah. A viewing will be held on
Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the church
and also prior to the services from 11:30-12:30. Interment
will be in the American Fork Cemetery.
