Leola Stott George, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully in her home March 26, 2012. Leola was born August 8, 1920 in Meadow, Millard Co, Utah, to Joseph Leo and Velma Bushnell Stott. As a young girl she was taught the value of hard work and spent many hours working on the family farm.

After graduation from Millard High School, Leola attended beauty school and became an accomplished beautician. Her clients loved her hair-dos, and even more importantly her advice, whether on fashion, home decorating, family relationships or anything else they needed to talk about. She married Lloyd Preal George on January 8, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple. Thus began a wonderful relationship that spanned more than 50 years until the death of her beloved companion in 1996.

Leola and her husband settled in Kanosh, Utah after his service in World War II. They owned and operated a successful mercantile business. Leola also supported her husband in his ranching and farming endeavors. After raising their children, they moved to Orem, Utah. Grandma loved the "big city" and especially the mall. She had a beautiful home where countless friends and family enjoyed her wonderful meals and hospitality.

Leola served faithfully in various capacities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life, serving with her husband while he was Mission President in Tempe Arizona and a member of the First and Second Quorums of the Seventy, including an assignment in the South Pacific Area.

Leola loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and never missed a birthday. Every Sunday she served dinner to her large extended family who will never forget these wonderful meals and fun times with their cousins at Grandma George’s.
