Janet Anne Shelton Luke
1934 ~ 2015

Our wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the age of 81 after suffering a lengthy illness. Her infectious laugh, friendship, and kindness will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She was a devoted mother who adored her children.

Janet was born March 29, 1934 in Provo, Utah, the second eldest of Andrew Rowley Shelton and Esther Pulley Shelton. Janet graduated from American Fork High School in 1952 and went on to graduate from Utah State University in 1956 with a degree in Elementary Education. She was very active in college as a member of the marching band, a cheerleader, and a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. After graduation, she taught kindergarten in Las Vegas, Nevada. She loved children and they were drawn to her because of her unconditional love for them.

Janet was a remarkable person and leaves a legacy to her posterity of her loving kindness and generosity. She enjoyed life and made many lifelong relationships. Janet was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She possessed a beautiful truth of faith in Jesus Christ and an unwavering set of principles that guided her path on this earth. She held many callings in the Church, spending many years serving in the Young Women’s Program. She especially enjoyed sharing her passion for dance, music, and theatre, and loved directing ward road shows. Janet enjoyed helping others, spreading joy and spending time with her children, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We take abundant comfort in knowing there is one more angel above us.

Janet leaves to cherish the memory of her sons Ted (Patti Jo) of Colleyville, TX, David (Lee-Ann) of Herriman, UT, John (Jennifer) of Colorado Springs, CO, Steven (Amy) of Stafford, VA, her brother Andrew Shelton of American Fork, UT, and her 22 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Esther Pulley Shelton, sisters Norma Jean Shelton Kaylor, great-granddaughter Cordelia Casper, and sister Joyce Shelton Taylor.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 4, 2016 at 11:00 am at the American Fork 30th LDS Ward Chapel, 261 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah. Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 am Monday, prior to services at the church. Interment will be at the American Fork City Cemetery.

Janet’s family would like to thank her caregivers for their love, friendship and professional care they provided for Janet. They would also like to thank the many members of the Brooks Farm Ward in Gilbert, Arizona, who became part of her family. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials in Janet’s name to Warenski Funeral Home which will be donated to a favorite children’s charity.
