wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend
passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the
age of 81 after suffering a lengthy illness. Her infectious
laugh, friendship, and kindness will be greatly missed by
everyone who knew her. She was a devoted mother who adored
Janet was born March 29, 1934 in Provo, Utah, the second
eldest of Andrew Rowley Shelton and Esther Pulley Shelton.
Janet graduated from American Fork High School in 1952 and
went on to graduate from Utah State University in 1956 with
a degree in Elementary Education. She was very active in
college as a member of the marching band, a cheerleader,
and a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. After graduation,
she taught kindergarten in Las Vegas, Nevada. She loved
children and they were drawn to her because of her unconditional
love for them.
Janet was a remarkable person and leaves a legacy to her
posterity of her loving kindness and generosity. She enjoyed
life and made many lifelong relationships. Janet was a faithful
member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She possessed a beautiful truth of faith in Jesus Christ
and an unwavering set of principles that guided her path
on this earth. She held many callings in the Church, spending
many years serving in the Young Women’s Program. She
especially enjoyed sharing her passion for dance, music,
and theatre, and loved directing ward road shows. Janet
enjoyed helping others, spreading joy and spending time
with her children, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
We take abundant comfort in knowing there is one more angel
Janet leaves to cherish the memory of her sons Ted (Patti
Jo) of Colleyville, TX, David (Lee-Ann) of Herriman, UT,
John (Jennifer) of Colorado Springs, CO, Steven (Amy) of
Stafford, VA, her brother Andrew Shelton of American Fork,
UT, and her 22 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Esther
Pulley Shelton, sisters Norma Jean Shelton Kaylor, great-granddaughter
Cordelia Casper, and sister Joyce Shelton Taylor.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 4, 2016 at
11:00 am at the American Fork 30th LDS Ward Chapel, 261
North 900 East, American Fork, Utah. Family and friends
may call from 9:30 to 10:30 am Monday, prior to services
at the church. Interment will be at the American Fork City
Janet’s family would like to thank her caregivers
for their love, friendship and professional care they provided
for Janet. They would also like to thank the many members
of the Brooks Farm Ward in Gilbert, Arizona, who became
part of her family. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials
in Janet’s name to Warenski Funeral Home which will
be donated to a favorite children’s charity.
Age 95, died peacefully in American Fork, Utah, on October
15, 2017. She was a dedicated wife, mother, educator, musician, and

of James Thurman Reed and Mae Euphemia Holmquist. Catherine had three
younger brothers; Robert Joseph, James Thomas, and Richard Allen Reed.
