Brooklyn Renae Mansfield
2014 ~ 2014

"The Lord takes many away, even in infancy, that they may escape the envy of man, and the sorrows and evils of this present world; they were too pure, too lovely, to live on earth." -- Joseph Smith

So it was with our precious Brooklyn Renae Mansfield. With deep sadness over her passing, we relinquish our lovely baby to the arms of her Heavenly Parents. With courage and faith, we exchange our earthly minutes with her today for eons of future laughter and love.

Brooklyn was born on June 14, 2014, to Layton and Shaina Mansfield of Orem. Her short life has been rich in love. Her mommy loved holding her and "spoiling" her, and when her daddy was home from work, she was never far from his arms. Brooklyn was bathed in love and caring, even dancing with her parents on the night before her unexpected passing. Brooklyn loved being outdoors, and her little family spent much time exploring. Not a moment was wasted. No opportunity was lost.

Our angel Brooklyn knew she was adored. In return, she smiled and smiled and smiled. She smiled for her mommy in the morning and for her daddy after work. She smiled for her grandparents, cousins, and uncles and aunts. And she even smiled for her favorite toy monkeys. Her smile was her way of saying, "I am so happy," "Thank you for taking such good care of me," and especially "I love you!"

Brooklyn, your short life has changed us. Because of your beauty and cheer, we are striving for deeper beauty within ourselves and greater cheer to share. Because of your gentle power and lively happiness, we are striving for the power to heal, the power to trust, and the power to believe in future happiness, not just in heaven but also on earth. And because of your ever present smile, we are striving for the courage to smile again. And again. And again. That way, the legacy of light you brought to us during your radiant 3 months can shine on through us and bring light to everyone and anyone who needs it.

Brooklyn Renae Mansfield passed away of SIDS on Thursday, September 18, 2014. She is survived by her parents Layton Bruce and Shaina Renae Gunnell Mansfield, and by her grandparents Martin and Thalia Mansfield of Lehi, and Brent and JeNeale Gunnell of Caldwell, ID. She will be missed by her aunts, uncles, and great-grandparents, and by her cousins Tenley Gunnell, Maddox Frazee, and Trey, Trenton, Taft, Corban, Audrey, and Evelyn Mansfield

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 22, 2014, at 11:00 am at the Lehi West Stake Center Chapel, 1920 North 500 West, Lehi. Interment will be at the Provo City Cemetery.
