Elizabeth Britt Nelson died on September 20, 2016 at her
home in Highland, Utah the result of a long battle with
Multiple Myeloma, a bone marrow cancer. Carol was born on
February 26, 1947 in Smithfield, NC the daughter of James
Woodie Britt and Rita Louise Jones. She grew up in Fayetteville,
NC where her parents joined The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. Carol was an active and faithful member
throughout her life. It was at church she met John “Jack”
Nelson who was in the Army station at Fort Bragg and who
was to become her eternal companion.
After being discharged from the Army, John began a career
as a FBI Agent, as his wife Carol lived in seven cities.
Her five children were born in four different cities. She
loved the adventure and meeting and being friends with many
Carol was preceded in death by her father and mother, a
sister, Barbara, and brother, James Woodie Britt, Jr. She
is survived by her husband, John, and five children: Jason
(Angie), Layton, UT, Christian (Holly), Eagle Mountain,
UT; Heather (Steven) Barney, Alpine, UT; Holly (Jeff) Dotson,
Provo, UT; Jared (Stefani), Lehi, UT; and 21 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 26, 2016
at 11:00 am at the Canyon View LDS Ward Chapel, 10494 North
4720 West, Highland, Utah. Family and friends may call Sunday
evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Warenski Funeral Home,
1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah and again on Monday
morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to services at the church.
Interment, Highland City Cemetery.
The family gives a special thanks to Dr. Wendy Breyer and
the staff at the Huntsman-Inter-mountain Cancer clinic in
AF, the staff at the Timpanogos Regional Hospital, especially
the staff at the Same Day Surgery Center.
