Dean A Nield
1925 ~ 2013

Dean A Nield was born to John W and Eva Claudia Allred Nield in Afton, Wyoming, August, 28, 1925. He died peacefully at home July 7, 2013 in Alpine Utah.

He was the ninth child in his family. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Eva, Lester, Ellen, Laron, Genevieve, Glenna, Warren, Lynn and Shirley.

He grew up on Nield String with lots of cousins with whom he did a lot of hunting, fishing and camping. He graduated from Star Valley High School in 1944 and attended Utah State University where he was active in both basketball and football.

He married Virginia Schiess of Freedom, Idaho on January 31, 1947 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They enjoyed 66 wonderful years of marriage. To this union were born four children, John S., Lon S, Jenifer and Bradley. Growing up on a farm Dean learned the value of hard work.

He started the Phillips 66 gas station in Afton which later became Nield Oil Company. In 1960 he sold the business to his brother, Lynn, and moved to Southern California where he worked for Sav-On Drug Store as a manager for 26 years. He retired and moved to Alpine, Utah. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in many positions. Dean and Virginia served in the temples as workers for 7 years and served in the Toronto Temple Mission.

Dean was a very hard working man and taught his family the value of hard work and honesty. He is survived by his sweetheart, Virginia and his four children, John (Juanita), Lon (Pat), Jenifer Barney, Brad (Katherine), 17 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, with 3 on the way.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Alpine 7th LDS Ward Chapel, 890 North Heritage Hills Drive, Alpine, Utah. Family and friends may call Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah and Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the church. Interment, Alpine City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the General Temple Patron Assistance Fund.
