Ralph Hans Nielsen
1922 ~ 2012

Ralph Hans Nielsen, 89 of Sandy, Utah slipped from this life into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on Tuesday September 18, 2012. He was born on November 4, 1922 in South Jordan, Utah to Hans & Pauline Nielsen. He was the 9th child out of 11 siblings. He worked in the trucking industry. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters for 45 years and for Teamsters Local 222. He loved this great country and served in the 511th Parachute Infantry 11th Airborne Division of the United States Army. He loved his family and had great compassion for others. He was truly a great example to many. He married Azalia Rose Nielsen on October 16, 1952 and lived in Sandy for over 35 years. He loved to read and read thousands of books. He was blessed to have the world’s greatest friend, Homer Williams.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, 10 siblings and a great granddaughter Sadie. He is survived by his wife, Azalia Rose Nielsen, son Ronald Townsend (Barbara) Draper, Utah son Dennis Townsend (Janet) West Jordan, Utah and daughter Lynnette Rose (Bradley) Eagle Mountain, Utah. He had 11 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11:00 am in the LDS Chapel located at 8735 South Harvard Park Drive (1050 East) Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held that morning from 9:30 am-10:30 am also at the LDS Chapel. Interment will be held at the Lehi City Cemetery 1100 North 400 East, Lehi, Utah. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Cure Starts Now Foundation (www.thecurestartsnow.org) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
