the early evening hours of November 23, 2015 our beloved
husband, father and grandfather, Gordon Evans Olsen, 80,
passed away due to complications of prostate cancer. Gordon
was born on the cold morning of December 29, 1934 in Park
City, Utah to Lewis A. and Maude Evans Olsen. The third
of six children, he grew up in Park City attending Marsac
Elementary and Park City High School. He participated in
and enjoyed choir, band, drama, basketball and ski jumping.
He served an LDS Mission to Norway, and upon returning
home he joined the US Army serving two years at Fort Ord,
CA. While there he met the love of his life, Carrol Forsyth
and they married in the Salt Lake Temple March 27, 1959.
They were blessed with four children, eleven grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.
Gordon loved serving eight years as a temple worker in
the Mt. Timpanogos Temple; he also enjoyed his time as Branch
President in the American Fork Hospital Branch. He served
faithfully in all church callings. Gordon loved being a
volunteer during the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
He loved the outdoors including hunting, fishing, hiking,
camping, and especially golfing with his buddies.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a
daughter (Tammy), and a granddaughter (Ashlee). He is survived
by his wife, Carrol, and three children Lynn (James) Holley,
Julie (Jack) Reeve, and Eric (Jennifer) Olsen; his grandchildren
and great-grandchildren also survive him.
