Jal William Oomrigar
1986 ~ 2013

Jal William Oomrigar, age 27 passed away July 20, 2013 surrounded by some of his dear family and friends. He was born on Jan 31st, 1986 in Atlanta Georgia to Jana Hansen Oomrigar and Jonathan Z Oomrigar, and was the second of five children. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints dedicating his life to God, family, and country. Jal also earned the rank of Eagle Scout as a teenager. Jal was, and forever will be, a beloved and cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, Father and friend to many.

He was a loving father to his family. His contagious big smile and cheerful countenance was a joy to all that knew him. He had a huge, generous heart, and would jump on any occasion he could to help others. His kindness and generosity could be overwhelming at times!

One of his military leaders said that Jal was a hard worker and never complained regardless of the difficulty of the task ahead of him. Jal was a combat veteran who had served in Iraq. He enjoyed the life of a soldier, and was very dedicated to his chosen military profession.

We all remember Jal as being a dedicated, stubborn, happy and genuine person. He was one who would do anything for the people he loved, and quick to help everyone around him. He would want to be celebrated and remembered with fondness in our hearts. He gave the best hugs and advice one could offer, sometimes with a deep wisdom beyond his years.

A goal he had through out his life was to inspire people and bring joy to others. He achieved this many times for each and every one of us. Jal was never the one who lived life quietly. He loved to be active, pushing himself to new goals and new heights frequently. Striving to be involved in education either in academics or in the scriptures. He had a thirst for all knowledge and was never limited in his imagination, usually thinking "outside the box".

One of the last pieces of knowledge he wrote in his journal was: "Love overcomes and wins."

He truly applied this to his daily life, centering his life around living with love in his heart always. He was not perfect, but he knew as he studied the scriptures and found Christ he could become the man he wanted to be. Having a knowledge beyond his years, he would bless the lives of others with words of encouragement and love.

Jal is survived by: his wife Ashlee (Curtis), Daughter Lillian, sons Ethan and Gideon, Mother Jana (Hansen) Oomrigar, Father Jonathan Oomrigar and Step-Mother Donna, brother Zachariah Oomrigar, sisters Elozia (Rogers) Dustin, Jasmin Oomrigar, Jenny Oomrigar, Grandmother Roma Hansen, grandmother Barbara Oomrigar, and many extended family and friends. All of whom he held so dear to him. Though he may be gone, he had such an impact on all of us, we will never forget him. Jal will be deeply missed by those who knew him. In this troubling time we can lean on our beliefs of eternal life through our Savior Jesus Christ, and remember that we will see him again, looking forward to that day when we can each join him in paradise.

The family would like to thank the First Responders, EMTs, UVMC Trauma Team, Doctors & Surgeons who did everything they possibly could to save Jal's life. It has been healing to hear of their stories, the small miracles and tender mercies surrounding such tragedy. The family would also like to express gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers from both friends and strangers at this difficult time.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Lakeview LDS Stake Center Chapel located at 400 West 1800 South, Orem, Utah. Family and friends may call Friday morning from 9:30- 10:30 am prior to services at the church. Interment will be held in the Utah Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale, Utah.
