1940 ~ 2012
Esplin Pay, 72, after battling cancer, returned peacefully
to his Heavenly home on December 27, 2012 surrounded by
his loving family.
Dennis was born July 8, 1940 in Nephi, UT to Clarence Heber
and Lenna Esplin Pay. Growing up in this small farming community,
he learned from a young age the meaning of hard work which
he applied his whole life. He played basketball and football
at Snow College where he met his wife Gail Thornton. They
were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on December 15, 1960.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from the U of U and
a Masters in Physical Therapy from USC. He moved to Arizona
in 1970 where he lived for 35 years working in the building
industry and Physical Therapy.
His great loves in life were his family, serving in the
church, coaching and scouting. He will always be our gentle
giant who carried an amazing calmness and love that was
felt by all who knew him. His last testimony to his family
was this, "I love my Savior," which was evident
as he left this life serving a full time mission with his
wife in Salt Lake City at the Church History Library.
Dennis expressed at the end that there was more work for
him to do and that he was ready to continue to serve the
Lord on the other side.
He is survived by his wife, Gail and children, Dennis (Charise)
Pay, Garry (Jeana) Pay, DeAnne (Blair) Mankins, Kelli (Brad)
Bishop, Steven (Eimile) Pay, Andrea Pay, Shannon (RJ) Ziegler,
25 grandchildren, and his sister Carolee Coleman. He is
greatly loved and missed.
