Fifita Ofa Ki Amelika Schaumkel Price
1937 ~ 2017

Fifita Ofa Ki Amelika Schaumkel Price passed away April 14, 2017, only five weeks following her beloved husband Keith Price's passing in San Diego, California.

Ofa was born August 29, 1937 in Neiafu, Vava’u, Tonga to Olga Emilie Wolfgramm and Frank Strantz Schaumkel. Ofa is the second child of five children - Louise, Rona, Lambert, and Martha. Our one and only brother unfortunately died at 2 1/2 years. The Schaumkel children were educated at the Catholic school where they were taught in English. Ofa, Louise, and Rona were very active in playing Tongan style basketball.

The Schaumkel family left Vava'u in February 1952. The good ship Matua sailed to New Zealand arriving at Wellington, N.Z. March 3, 1952. Dad’s brother Coe met them and they went straightaway to the rail station to take the train to Auckland. Vuna Wolfgramm had already purchased a home for the Schaumkel family. They lived in Grey Lynn, Auckland. Ofa was very active in her church callings. Their mother Olga raised them in the LDS church in Tonga and in N.Z. as well.

Ofa loved sports she played outdoor basketball, softball, and indoor basketball. She was a super good athlete, excelling in each sport and becoming an Auckland rep player in softball and outdoor basketball (now known as netball). Being very active in church, Ofa held callings as a gospel doctrine teacher, ward missionary, primary teacher and so forth. She had a great and deep testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. She did much in the way of family history, collecting many, many pictures of our families and genealogy and very active in attending the temple.

Ofa was married to Mont D. Bigler Aug 4 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple. They adopted Elizabeth Martha Sanft from Tonga - Martha was about 5 yrs. old. They were later divorced. She married A. Keith Price on October 22, 1977. He had three sons. Together they lived in San Diego, raising their children who were all busy with many sports and church activities. Keith and Ofa were sealed for eternity in the Draper LDS Temple on May 26th, 2016.

Ofa is survived by four children, her daughter Elizabeth Martha Hunt and her three stepsons Dale, Terry, and Lee Price. She has twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Children of Dale and Rochelle Price: Rikki Malia (Zakk) Lanphear, Makani Rain (Lindsey) Price, and Riot Makakoa Price. Children of Terry and Kristine Price: Megan Pualani (Mike) Fults, Emmalee Karin Price, and Alexandra Fifita Price. Children of Lee and Heidi Price: Madison Lee Price, Kaden Jett Price and Ashlyn Mailee Price. Children of Elizabeth Martha and Dolph Hunt: Samuel Jefferson Hunt, Maile Helena Hunt, and Kalolaine Hunt. Her great-granddaughter is Adara Nalani Lanphear.

Ofa's life was one of service to her church, her family and friends. Special thanks to the loving care given to Ofa by the staff of Bel Aire Senior Living in American Fork.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 11:00 am at the Cedar Hills West LDS Stake Center, 4580 West Cedar Hills Drive, Cedar Hills, Utah.
