Marie Lund Prince passed away peacefully in her home on
Saturday, December 9, 2017. She was born in Los Angeles
on September 8, 1936, the youngest of five children born
to Wallace E. and Venice D. Robinson Lund.
She earned a scholarship to BYU, where she met Dale Leavitt
Prince. They were married in the Los Angeles LDS Temple
on November 21, 1956. The couple lived in the San Fernando
Valley for 37 years, where they raised their three children.
Marie had a kind and generous heart, fostering children,
helping in her communities, and opening her home to others.
She found joy volunteering for the LA Chapter of the Red
Cross, traveling all over the country to help with disaster
relief. She earned the highest national volunteer award:
The Clara Barton Award, as well as the Meritorious Volunteer
Marie had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing with the
Southern California Mormon Choir for 28 years. She knew
many things about many subjects and enjoyed trying to ‘outsmart’
Jeopardy. Marie was an artist; her home was an art gallery
showcasing her stunning paintings. She also enjoyed the
view from her back porch, flowers, sewing and needlework,
genealogy, organizing things, and working in her yard, even
at age 81.
She is survived by her sister, Lila Mae Orme, her daughter,
Dianne Larsen, son Michael, and grandchildren David, Janae
Shelby, Thomas (Alison & great granddaughter Lucy),
Connor, Jessica, Melissa, & Tricia. She was preceded
in death by her husband Dale, daughter Julie Marie and son-in-law
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 15, 2017
at 2:00 pm in the Highland 15th LDS Ward Chapel located
at 5212 West Country Club Drive, Highland, Utah. Family
and friends may call Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm
at the Highland 15th Ward Chapel and Friday afternoon from
12:30- 1:30 pm prior to services at the church. Interment
will take place at the Highland City Cemetery.
