Venice Marie Lund Prince
1936 ~ 2017

Venice Marie Lund Prince passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, December 9, 2017. She was born in Los Angeles on September 8, 1936, the youngest of five children born to Wallace E. and Venice D. Robinson Lund.

She earned a scholarship to BYU, where she met Dale Leavitt Prince. They were married in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on November 21, 1956. The couple lived in the San Fernando Valley for 37 years, where they raised their three children.

Marie had a kind and generous heart, fostering children, helping in her communities, and opening her home to others. She found joy volunteering for the LA Chapter of the Red Cross, traveling all over the country to help with disaster relief. She earned the highest national volunteer award: The Clara Barton Award, as well as the Meritorious Volunteer Leadership Award.

Marie had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing with the Southern California Mormon Choir for 28 years. She knew many things about many subjects and enjoyed trying to ‘outsmart’ Jeopardy. Marie was an artist; her home was an art gallery showcasing her stunning paintings. She also enjoyed the view from her back porch, flowers, sewing and needlework, genealogy, organizing things, and working in her yard, even at age 81.

She is survived by her sister, Lila Mae Orme, her daughter, Dianne Larsen, son Michael, and grandchildren David, Janae Shelby, Thomas (Alison & great granddaughter Lucy), Connor, Jessica, Melissa, & Tricia. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, daughter Julie Marie and son-in-law Craig Larsen.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Highland 15th LDS Ward Chapel located at 5212 West Country Club Drive, Highland, Utah. Family and friends may call Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Highland 15th Ward Chapel and Friday afternoon from 12:30- 1:30 pm prior to services at the church.
