Brown Pyrah was born in Carey, Idaho on August 30, 1924,
the son of Nellie May Brown and Preston Lloyd Pyrah.
Duane grew up in and around Carey, Idaho, graduating from
Carey High School. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on October
20, 1943 and served honorably in the Pacific Theatre during
World War II in Peleliu, Palau Islands, Okinawa, and Ryukyu
He married Ila Van Leuven in Roberts, Idaho on November
29, 1956. He worked for Idaho, Wyoming and Montana Fish
and Game Departments. He retired from Montana Fish, Wildlife
and Parks after a long career in 1987.
He moved to Alpine, Utah in January 2006. He was a member
of the Church of Jesus Christ of LatterDay Saints. He served
honorably in various positions over the years.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and two
brothers. He is survived by his wife, Ila; brothers and
sisters: Carmen Stewart (Morris); Ted Pyrah; Grant Pyrah
(Florene); Margaret Ward (Dallas); his sons Brad and Don
(Tammy) Pyrah; and his daughters Penney Devey (Ron) and
JoLyn Goss; his grandchildren: Brooke (Todd), Bryce, Brady,
Brennan, Scott (Melanie), Michelle (Aaron), Jennifer (Michael),
Patricia, Kimberly, Orrin, Brock and Reva; his great grandchildren:
Anthony, Nick, Tyler, Austin, Andrew, Danielle, McKinley,
Brody, Natalie and Savannah.
Duane passed from this life on March 24, 2012 in the University
of Utah hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012
at 11:00 am in the Alpine 11th LDS Ward Chapel located at
98 East Canyon Crest Road, Alpine, Utah. Family and friends
may call on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Warenski Funeral
Home located at 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah
and also from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the church.
Interment, Alpine City Cemetery.
