"It’s all about Family"

Our Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend to all, passed away quietly March 19, 2012 in Layton, UT. Born May 12, 1923 in Salt Lake to Elvis Riley Simons and Elfia Pearson.

He served honorably and proudly in the US army in Ground Combat as a Marksman and received the Purple Heart for injuries received in combat. He was discharged at the end of the War Dec. 1945. Married Dona May King Dec 10, 1949. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1960, sealing his family together for all time and all eternity,

He was always a proud and active member of the LDS Church and always looked forward to performing temple ordinances. He spent his early years in Montpelier, ID, and most of his married life in Kearns, UT. Retired from Rio Grande Railroad in 1985, and later as a crossing guard for Salt Lake County in W. Kearns.

The most cherished moments in his life were spent with his family. He left behind a legacy, of love, friendship, and kindness and touched all those who met him.

George is survived by the love of his life Dona, Sons, David; Michael (Lori); Daughter, Laura Stoker; and Grand "Daughter" Genique Hancock (Eric); 11 Grand Children, and 14 Great Grand Children. Proceeded in death by Son, Jeffery, and Grandson Justin.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Kearns 14th Ward Chapel, 4232 W. 5015 S. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Kearns 14th Ward and Saturday morning 1 hour prior to services. Interment at Valley View Memorial 4335 W. 4100 S. West Valley. Dad would expect us to thank all those at Legacy Village and Pheasant View assisted living along with the staff at BurchCreek Hospice who took special care in making his last days comfortable, In lieu of flowers please donate to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, alz.org.
