Kay Marie (Katie) Durfee Smith
Forever Sweethearts

Kay Marie (Katie) Durfee Smith had a joyous reunion with her parents, Jack (John) Clealund and Gaylie Ora Dixon Durfee, as she returned home to her Maker on April 23, 2017. Born on June 15, 1961, she loved being in her family of one brother and eight sisters.

Her large family continued when she married her rock and sweetheart Ben Gardner Smith for time and all eternity on November 19, 1982 in the Jordan River Utah Temple. They took seriously their “sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, and to teach them to love and serve one another.”

She loves the Lord, the Gospel and her posterity. She is survived by her eternal companion, nine children Benjamin (Amanda), Brandon (Julianna), Nathan (Kim), Spencer (Enid), Zachary (Domonique), Stephanie, Aaron, Amelia, Jacob and Qianwei Tang, nine grandchildren with three on their way, eight siblings, five sibling in-laws and all spouses who she loved completely. She leaves them with a great legacy of faith, gratitude and compassion. She is loved and will be missed by those she tirelessly served.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 11:00 am in the American Fork East LDS Stake Center Chapel located at 825 East 500 North, American Fork, Utah. Family and friends may call Thursday morning from 9:00-10:30 am prior to services at the church. Interment will be held at the American Fork Cemetery.
