May Reid Merkley Tolman passed away on July 16, 2012 at
the age of 90. She was born in Manti, Utah on February 15,
1922 to William T. Reid and Ida Farnsworth. Marcia was the
youngest of seven children.
In 1945 she married Don R. Merkley in the Salt Lake Temple.
They spent many years in Montana where they raised their
family. Marcia and Don lived in Yemen for two years. They
also served missions in Austria, Hungary, and Germany. Don
died in 1992. Marcia married Marvin Tolman in 1994. They
served a mission to Arkansas and enjoyed 12 years together
until his death.
She is survived by Ann (Kenneth) Reynolds, Don Reid Merkley,
David (Janice) Merkley, Kent (Carol) Merkley, and Karl (Gwen)
Merkley. She also leaves 25 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren,
several stepchildren, step-grandchildren and numerous nieces
and nephews. For the past 3 years Marcia was a resident
of The Charleston at Cedar Hills, where she was very happy
and made many friends. She served in many positions in the
LDS Church and spent her life helping others. Funeral services
will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 11:00 am at the
Cedar Hills West Stake Center Chapel located at 4580 West
Cedar Hills Drive, Cedar Hills, Utah. Family and friends
may call Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services
at the church. Interment will take place at the Corvallis
Cemetery in Corvallis, Montana on July 23, 2012 at 11:00
a.m. In keeping with Marcia’s desire to help others,
in lieu of flowers, a donation to the LDS Humanitarian Fund
would be appreciated.
Age 95, died peacefully in American Fork, Utah, on October
15, 2017. She was a dedicated wife, mother, educator, musician, and

Was born July 24, 1931 in Richmond Indiana at the home
of James Thurman Reed and Mae Euphemia Holmquist. Catherine had three
younger brothers; Robert Joseph, James Thomas, and Richard Allen Reed.
