Jermaine Ann Wells
1936 ~ 2015

Jermaine “Jakie” Ann Wells, passed away August 16, 2015 in Holladay, Utah after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was Born February 3, 1936 in Berkeley, CA to Charles Jurgensen and Claudia Dewsnup. Jakie married Richard Bruce Wells March 6, 1956 in Long Beach, CA where they began their wonderful life together. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on July 15, 1978. In 1970 they moved from Long Beach to Santa Maria, CA to raise their family. Richard passed away May, 3, 2008.

Jakie was a good student through high school and decided to further her education attending Long Beach City College, where she met Richard. After two years of college Jakie went to work for McDonnell Douglas Corporation in Long Beach. In 1960, she began her career as a homemaker and mother to four children.

Jakie was a sweet, kind, warm-hearted person who was always looking for ways to help and serve family, friends and those she came in contact with. She was a peace maker and was always positive in every situation.

A life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jakie served faithfully in many callings. She loved working with the youth and especially enjoyed a Church Educational System mission at the Santa Maria Institute of Religion of the LDS Church with Richard. Jakie and Richard also served one week a month for several years at the Los Angeles temple. She enjoyed the many friendships and life-long relationships the Church provided.

Jakie was a talented artist and seamstress but was known for her excellent cooking skills, which were celebrated at the holidays, family gatherings and weekends at Lake Nacimiento at the family lake house.

Although Jakie loved serving others, her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jakie is survived by children Janet W. Kilpatrick of Murray, UT; Richard B. Wells II of Santa Maria, CA; Eric J. Wells of San Luis Obispo, CA; and Chad S. Wells of Sandy, UT; fifteen grandchildren and five great Grandchildren and her brother Jon Jurgensen of Corona, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother Phillip Jurgensen.

Interment will be at Santa Maria Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Warenski Funeral Home, American Fork, Utah.
