Wendell Grover Hardman
Wendell Grover Hardman
October 11, 1937 ~ December 2, 2020
Wendell Grover Hardman, age 83, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2020 in South Jordan, Utah. Wendell was born October 11, 1937 to Lilly Rawlins and James Abraham Hardman. He was raised in Logan Utah and later served an LDS mission in the Central States Mission. He was a member of the ROTC and graduated from Utah State University in 1962 with a degree in electrical engineering. He was the father of two children, Genae Royer and David Brian Hardman.
Wendell married his childhood sweetheart, Lorna Christensen, on February 12, 1960 in the Logan Utah Temple. After the completion of his university studies, he and Lorna moved to the Bay Area (Northern California) where he worked for various defense contractors and electrical component companies. He finished his career and retired in Mesa, Arizona where he and Lorna served a full-time mission in the Family History Center at the Mesa Arizona Temple. He and Lorna relocated to South Ogden, Utah in 2006 to be closer to family and lived there until April 2018 when Lorna passed away. With a diagnosis of dementia, Wendell moved to an assisted living center in South Jordan, UT to be closer to his son and daughter.
Wendell was hard working, humble and conscientious of his duty to family and the Lord. He was extremely disciplined in all matters that he was involved in. He learned sacrifice in his youth and acceptance and love from his relationship with Lorna. He had a light and a welcoming spirit that naturally put people at ease. In his final days, he was remembered as someone who was easy to serve and so grateful for everything that was done for him. He endured his life’s trials with dignity, hope and faith while never complaining. He always put the needs of others ahead of his own.
Wendell is survived by his daughter, Genae Royer (Bill) and son, David Brian Hardman (Melissa) and eleven grandchildren: Amy, Brian (Daleen), Brad (Becca), Brett (Whitney), Ashley (Shane), Ben, Andrew (Lauren), Alex, Austin, Annie and Adam and 13 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Lorna Christensen, his father James A. Hardman, his mother Lilly Rawlins, his brothers Clair Hardman (Irene) and Doug Hardman (Karla), and his daughter in law Michele G. Hardman.
