Donald C. Bean
Our sweet, gentle giant Donald Chris Bean passed away December 22, 2020 from complications due to covid.
Chris was born to Howard D. and Connie C. Bean on April 30, 1948 in American Fork Utah. Chris began his life at 24” long and stretched to a mighty 6’ 8”. He loved basketball and was a star player at American Fork High School, earning a four-year scholarship to Utah State University. Not only did he play basketball all four years, but he earned a double bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Business. For 29 years he worked for Meadow Gold Dairy and went on to be a field rep for Dairy Farmers of America, retiring after 14 years.
Chris married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Marekay Cook in the Provo, Utah Temple, and were happily married for over 52 years. They were blessed with seven children, one son and six daughters, 26 grandchildren, and19 great-grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Chris was an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer, and Utah Jazz fan. In retirement, golf became an enjoyable pastime spent with his good buddies, while time spent with his family was always his favorite.
Chris was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served diligently in many callings. His strong testimony and love of the Savior influenced many throughout his life.
Chris is preceded in death by his mother and father. Survived by his wife Marekay, son Clint (Alanna), daughters Kristie (Josh Beighley), Debbie (Doug Daley), Shari (Justin Worthen), Michelle (Skip Smith), Nicole (Steve Jr. Phelon), Beckie (Kevin Phelon), 26 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, brothers David and Doug.
A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 am on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at the American Fork 33rd Ward Building, 1305 North 100 East, American Fork, Utah. Due to Covid restrictions, the funeral following the viewing is for the immediate family only.
