Ernst Hlawatschek

On January 16, 2021, heaven gained another angel, Ernst “Ernie” Hlawatschek passed away at the age of 85. 

He was born on June 8th, 1935 in the Czech Republic and spent the majority of his young life in Germany. In the spring of 1957, he came to the United States where shortly after he was drafted into the US Army. Ernie served two years in active duty and another four in the reserves. He married Margarete, the love of his life in Germany on October 15, 1960. They settled in Orem Utah and raised a family of two girls and two boys. Ernie was an avid outdoorsman, traveler and family man. He was a master carpenter and had a successful construction business for over 50 years. He was a gentle, kind and generous man to everyone. His sharp wit kept us on our toes and dry humor kept us laughing. Ernie was a wonderful husband, father, Opa, great grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He will be very missed by all. We love you and auf wiedersehen- Until we meet again.

There will be a viewing held on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 9:00 to 10:30 am at the Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah. Graveside services will be held at Utah Veterans Cemetery (Camp Williams) 17111 South 1700 West, Bluffdale, Utah at 11:00 am. A “Celebration of Life” following the graveside services will be held at 4122 West Ascot Downs Drive, South Jordan, Utah 84009 at 12:30pm.
