Robert “Bob” Hayden Williams, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend peacefully passed away on February 14, 2021 surrounded by his family.  Robert was born the second of seven children to Cecil and Marie Williams in Ogden, Utah on November 5, 1946.  He spent his childhood learning the value of hard work on their family farm in Nampa, Idaho.  From a young age Robert enjoyed music, singing and especially playing the trumpet.  He went on to play the trumpet in BYU’s marching and pep band.

After serving a mission in the South German mission, Robert continued his studies at Brigham Young University.  Robert and Carol first started dating at BYU although they had known each other from the Boise Stake Saturday night dances.  They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on May 28, 1970.  This past year they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with all of their children and grandchildren.  Robert devoted his life to his wife and seven children providing for them spiritually and physically.  Their family motto was “Choose ye this day whom ye will serve, as for me and my house we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).  Robert’s career in pharmaceutical sales began in Sacramento, CA and opportunities for growth soon followed.  Robert excelled in his career as a division sales manager for two different pharmaceutical companies.  Work advancements took the family to Bosie, ID, Spring, TX, Morgan Hill, CA and in 1984 they settled in Alpine, Utah.

Robert was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. He served in several callings including multiple bishoprics, stake high councils, young men’s president, the MTC branch presidency, and as the Bishop of the Alpine 6th Ward. Robert relished working with the youth and in the scouting program.  He received the Silver Beaver Award in recognition of his many years of exemplary service from the Boy Scouts of America.  As a Scout Leader, he emphasized leadership skills and instilled confidence by helping young men accomplish more than they thought possible.

Following his retirement in 2008, Robert, Carol, and their daughter Kimberly felt privileged to serve two church missions together in the New York, New York South and Washington, Spokane missions.

Robert enjoyed many hobbies particularly those he could share with his family including boating, water skiing, snow skiing, hiking, four wheeling, fishing, and hunting. He loved to travel with Carol and Kimberly.  They enjoyed trips to places such as China, Egypt, Israel, and all over Europe.  He also enjoyed sports and spent many mornings playing basketball at the church near his home.  Robert was full of life and adventure.

Robert met life’s challenges with confidence and a positive attitude.  This was exemplified in the way he faced his diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease in 2007.  Robert continued to live life to its fullest.  He served in The Church and enjoyed hobbies with family.  He snow-skied last winter and slalom water skied this past summer at Lake Powell.

He is survived by his wife Carol; his children, Becky Brian (Joel), Mark Williams (Mary), Stephen Williams (Jenny), Shelly Kenison (Austin), Brian Williams (Andrea), Kimberly Williams, and Jennifer Paul (David); his twenty-nine grandchildren; and six siblings Karen Walton (Steve), Carlene Veenker (Larry), Norman Williams (Laura), John Williams (Diane), Stephen Williams (Stacey), and MaryAnn Pillar (Jim).
