Lt. Col. David M. Fisher Jr.
Lt. Col. David Merrill Fisher, Jr., US Army, Retired (81. American Fork, Utah) passed away peacefully at 6:58pm on February 21, 2021 at Spring Gardens in Lindon, Utah.
David Fisher was born in January 1940 in Salt Lake City and was raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He attended Purdue University briefly before enlisting in the Army in 1959. He completed Officer Candidate School in 1962 and earned a BA in Economics from Old Dominion University in 1970, and MBA from University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1976. Before retiring from military service in 1979, he attained the rank of Lt. Colonel and was commended numerous times for meritorious and heroic service.
He met and married Jacqueline Thomas in 1968 and was married for 52 years. David was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various roles including bishop, branch president, and missionary. He was an avid genealogist.
David was preceded in death by his parents David Merrill Fisher Sr and Dorothy Hood Fisher, and his younger brother Richard. His sister Gay Blize is the remaining member of his family.
David is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Fisher, of American Fork, Utah, their children Lori Fisher, Geoff Fisher, Matt Fisher, Kristen Keller, and Ben Fisher, their spouses, and eight grandchildren.
He will receive full military honors at a graveside service to be held at Camp Williams at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 25th, 2021. Following the service, a celebration of David’s life will be held at 12:00pm at Hillcrest Stake Center 165 North 350 West, American Fork, Utah.
