Norman D. Millman
This great man was called home to his Heavenly Parents on Easter morning, Sunday, April 4, 2021. He suffered a stroke a few days prior and spent his last days at Pointe Meadows, spending time with his family. While it all happened so quickly, we are thankful he didn’t suffer long.
Norm was the only child, born in Detroit, Michigan to his parents, Norman William Millman and Ellen Caroline Glasgow. He loved growing up in Detroit and that built his love for cars so he drove mostly American-made. As a boy, he loved to run, wrestle, and play. When his mother noticed him moving to the music, she put him in dance classes. He found a love of dancing and Gene Kelly inspired him. As a teen, he and a troupe of dancers, singers, and magicians would perform at USO functions around the area. Watching the magicians piqued his curiosity so he had to learn magic as well!
In 1951 he joined the Navy and spent some time aboard the USS Fulton during the Korean War. After leaving the Navy, he returned to dancing and decided to move to LA to make it big in Hollywood as a dancer. While working at a bank, he met his wife, Judith Kay Danner. He would tease her at the end of the day by closing her drawing while she was finishing up the day’s work.
They married on September 7, 1957. Their first son, Craig Allan, was born on March 3, 1959 and their daughter, Diana Ellen, was born April 6, 1961. They enjoyed a good life in Orange County, with a pool in their backyard, a ping pong table on the patio, and nights of playing Pinochle. Norm worked as an accountant at Buzza Cardoza in Anaheim. In 1972, they moved up to Northern California. He often performed magic shows at work parties and both Craig and Diana assisted. They owned horses and enjoyed living in the country.
In the 1980s, they moved to Sacramento, Roseville, and Yuba City. Norm was hired at the State offices and made many friends. In 2001, he and Judith moved to Cedar Hills, Utah. They loved this new location and spent the rest of their years together. His wife passed away in 2012 due to Alzheimer’s. Diana moved her family to Utah in 2014 and Norm moved in with them four years later.
Norman was a wonderful example of humor, generosity, and making friends everywhere he went. He is survived by his daughter Diana, his grandchildren Jenessa, Kaylee, Jordyn, Connor, Jakob, and his great-grandchildren Devany and Hattie. We are happy that he is reunited with his wife and son. He will be missed!
