Laurel Browning passed away at her Alpine, UT home, surrounded by family on June 30, 2021.

Born in Price, UT June 9, 1941, to Garth and Theressa Frandsen.  Laurel was raised in Price, UT. Laurel met Robert while working as a waitress at the lodge in Zions National Park. She attended Carbon High School, College of Eastern Utah and Southern Utah University. She earned a degree in Elementary Education. Laurel and Robert were sealed in the Logan temple on August 22, 1963. They settled in Santa Clara, CA, where Laurel taught school in the San Jose Unified School District.

Predeceased by her parents Garth and Theressa, her sweet brother Ralph and her sweetheart Robert who passed away just 12 days before Laurel.

Survived by her loving daughters Cari (Cory) Buchanan, Rory (Stan) Claunch and Clisty (Michael) Borzoni. Her mischievous, loyal little brother, Neil (Bonnie) Frandsen. Grandchildren Laurén (Miles) Greene, Tristan (Sarah) Ham, Logan Ham and Maycee Ham. Natalie (Brendan) Lamoreaux, Kylie Phillips and Troy Claunch. Allison, Nolan, Nina, Gwen and Marik Borzoni. Great grandchildren Amelia and Malachi Ham. Britton and Berlin Lamoreaux. Many gorgeous grandnieces and a few handsome grandnephews.

Laurel grew up riding her sorrel horse, Moonbeam, all over Carbon County. In high school, she was a member of various clubs and worked at Cook’s Velvet Freeze. Her younger brother, Ralph, had Cerebral Palsy. Laurel was honored to be his sister.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Laurel had many callings. She treasured her time in Primary as a pianist and chorister. Laurel and Robert learned sign language so they could serve in the special needs Primary. She was a dedicated friend and visiting teacher to many women in the Church. Laurel’s girls will always remember her great example of service to others.

While raising her three daughters, Laurel resumed her teaching career for San Jose Unified School District. Her classroom was a warm haven for her students, often extending to home visits. Laurel was a collaborative colleague, encouraging and friendly to all, making lifelong friends. Besides classroom teaching, she held the position of Title 1 Coordinator, retiring in 2002.

Robert bought Laurel’s dream home in Alpine, UT. She was able to own horses again! Laurel treasured the view of the canyon from her kitchen window. She made sure to have her yard full of colorful blooms. The friends she made in that neighborhood were very important to her. If you were to ask Laurel what she wanted to do, she would always wish to take a drive up the canyon and have a picnic with friends and family.

While we will miss her dearly, we are comforted to know that she is with our dad now. Probably sipping a Diet Coke and catching up with her great friend, Joan.
