Helmut Bambl
Helmut Bambl was born August 24, 1949, in the war-ravaged city of Munich, Germany, to Helmut Streicher and Frieda Bambl. While a small boy, Helmut, Frieda, and his younger brother, Werner, were befriended by US Army Surgeon Colonel Charles Bingham and his wife Betty. At the age of 6, Helmut, Werner, and Frieda were brought to the United States by the Binghams on the USS Italia thru New York City. The Bingham family took Helmut in as one of their own, and became a major influence on Helmut’s life. They also introduced Helmut to the Church of Jesus Christ.
Helmut attended Mclane High School in Fresno, California, where he excelled in track, and met his high-school sweetheart Lark Przybyla during a church road show. The two became inseparable, but Lark told Helmut she would only marry him if he ‘served a two-year mission for the church!’ After serving two years in the North-Central states mission, Helmut married the love of his life in the Oakland, California, temple on October 15, 1970.
Helmut and Lark have seven children. Helmut always worked hard to provide for his family, even throwing newspapers at 4 am, and building cabinets, while attending Fresno State University. Helmut played basketball at Fresno State, and after earning his B.S. in Biology, he entered the pharmaceutical industry where he would spend the next 41 years in various capacities with Novartis.
Helmut’s greatest joy was his family, including 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He loved family gatherings, and trips to Europe with his grandchildren. Helmut taught his children to work hard, serve others, and always have faith in the Lord.
Helmut is survived by his wife – Lark Bambl; their seven children – Richard Bambl (Molly), Paul Bambl, Kimberly Bambl Rash (Erik), Brian Bambl, Christiane Lemieux (Tony), Matthew Bambl (Riley), and Cairen Ballstaedt (Seth) his mother-in-law – Loya Przybyla; 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. His two brothers Werner Bambl(Janice), Bernard Ollech(Shirley). The Bingham siblings Penny Johnston (Dan), Toby Sanders (Scott), Terry Lorz(John), Tab Bingham(Pamela), Vicki Hinton(Glenn), Dan Przybyla(Julienne), Sue Thomas(Richard), Tim Przybyla(Beverly). Helmut will always be remembered as a loving, hard-hard working, faithful example who always put the Lord and his family above all else. He has many family members and friends that will miss him dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ at 327 South Long Drive in Alpine, Utah, on Thursday September 2, 2021 at 11 am. The family requests that only immediate family attend the graveside ceremony.
