Grant LaVell Taylor
“Keep smiling, love you!” These words were spoken from Grant’s mouth every time he said good-bye after a visit with a friend, neighbor or family member. Now he has uttered those to family and friends as he has passed through the veil into the arms of our loving Savior. After two years of suffering from bladder cancer only to have liver cancer aggressively hit him he succumbed to the pain on October 30, 2021.
His children Michael, Julie, Barbara, Sherry, Mark, Dave and Annie lost a loving and caring father along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grant also enjoyed being a father to Ronene, Ron, Doug, Michaun and Shannon (Burrell family) for 21 years along with grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he inherited by way of the marriage to Erlene Peck Burrell Taylor.
Rhinehart Oil benefited from Grant’s expertise as a truck driver, maintenance person and sign painter for over 33 years. After that he retired to further his fishing passion along with several grandchildren and his “buddy” Doug in their new to them boat.
Every morning one would find Grant at the kitchen table reading his scriptures. The Book of Mormon captured his attention several times throughout his 86 years.
Rulon and Geniel Taylor welcomed Grant into their home on September 19, 1935 being their middle son. Grant is survived by his wife, Erlene and his brother Dell and family.
As a stalwart member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Grant served in many capacities in the church which included serving a mission with Erlene. He served in the ward library with his friend, Mark, which proved to be one of the highlights of his week.
Oil paintings that Grant has created grace many of friends and families’ homes. A person would hardly know he did not have lessons to create these masterpieces. Several hang in our homes now as a constant memory of what a good and thoughtful person Grant was. They are cherished by everyone who has one.
