Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother, Dina Lena Duvalois, of American Fork, Utah, peacefully left this life on November 29, 2021.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Willem Duvalois, who passed away 11 years prior. She is also preceded in death by her father, Gerrit Volbeda, and her mother, Grietje Van Es Volbeda. Dina is survived by her brother, Jaap Volbeda, and her children, Deborah Lou Duvalois Schwarz, Diana Alice Duvalois Wilson, Randolph Lynn Duvalois, Robert Lee Duvalois, and Dawn Rae Duvalois Franck. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Our beautiful mother was born on March 3, 1936 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. From a very young age, Dina had a natural and nurturing gift caring for children. It was common to see her pushing a baby buggy for walks, taking care of children in her neighborhood. Her large family is indicative of her love for children.

After completing her required school years of education in Holland, Dina went on to technical training to become a seamstress. She excelled in her talent and ability to sew everything from clothing to home goods and furnishings. She found great joy working for a clothing company in Rotterdam as a young woman.

At the age of 21 years, Dina Volbeda married Willem Duvalois on February 13, 1957 and immigrated to the USA in May of 1957. Together, they began a new journey that included learning to speak English fluently and starting their family. The United States became her new home of opportunity. Willem and Dina were eager to become US Citizens in 1962. Mom’s whole world centered on her own family from that point on. She enjoyed her life’s work as a hard-working and productive homemaker and her passion for sewing continued all her life.

She was baptized and confirmed on July 3, 1993 as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was charitable and served faithfully in the Boy Scout program and the Relief Society Women’s Organization. Her personal faith in God and religious convictions were her foundation of strength through life’s challenges. Her steadfast example of goodness will always be remembered. On October 8, 2011, Dina and Willem were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Ashford Memory Care and Symbii Hospice in Draper for the excellent care they provided. A special thank you to Dr. Douglas Mower MD for years of medical care and walking this difficult road of Dementia-Alzheimer’s the past 4 years with us.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:00 to 9:45 am prior to the services. Interment will be at the Highland City Cemetery.
