Marilyn Devey Turner
Marilyn Devey Turner, age 91, passed away in Alpine, Utah on January 25, 2022.
She was born on January 10, 1931 to Earl and Velma Devey at their home in Alpine. She was the sixth of seven children. She spent her childhood on the family farm with her five bothers and one sister.
Marilyn graduated from American Fork High School in 1949. She attended and graduated from LDS Business College. She put her education to good use working as the private secretary for the Chief Mettalurgist at Geneva Steel.
In 1948 she met the love of her life, William H. Turner. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 23, 1950. Together they raised six children.
Marilyn had a life-long love of painting, playing the piano, and singing. Her beautiful paintings adorn the walls of most family members. Marilyn had the gift of “playing by ear” and could play anything she heard with or without music. She was a member of the Alpine Double Trio, performing at many community and church functions.
As a member of the LDS Church, she held many callings in her ward as Teacher, Primary President, Mutual President and Secretary of the Relief Society.
During her 91 years living in Alpine Marilyn saw many changes ranging from the horse and buggy to manned spaceships to the moon and beyond.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, William H. Turner and five of their children: Craig (Susan) Turner, Jan (Paul) Leavitt, Tracie (Keven) Tolbert, Paula (Eric) Jensen, DeAnne (Kerry) Haut and was preceded in death by daughter Shelley Turner.
Marilyn’s viewing will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 9:30 am, followed by her funeral at 11:00am. Both to be held at the LDS Chapel located at 910 South High Bench Road, Alpine, Utah. Graveside services will be held at the Alpine City Cemetery.
