Eugene (Gene) Martin Frier
Eugene (Gene) Martin Frier, 81, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 in American Fork, Utah.
Gene was born on October 18, 1940 at the American Fork Community Hospital. Gene was the second child of Chester “Chuck” Frier and Norma Conder, with one older sister, Betty.
Gene was a talented crane operator for the Union of Operators, where he spent his career operating a crane during the construction of many power plants dotted throughout Utah. Gene suffered a serious back injury on a job site, which lead to an early retirement that allowed him to focus and spend most of his time with his family (if he wasn’t gone fishing on any given body of water in Utah).
Later in life Gene developed Lymphoma, in addition to many other health challenges, which he endured with his lovely wife Jolene by his side. He was a fighter.
Gene truly didn’t have a selfish bone in his body. He was always looking out for those around him. Gene was known for his wittiness and dad jokes, and was sure to keep everyone laughing.
Gene was a loving husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend. Being with his family was all that he needed in this world, and he left them with countless memories that they will hold tight to their hearts.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Chester “Chuck” (Hilga) Frier, Norma (Earl) Conder Huggard, and his half brother, Charlie Frier.
Gene is survived by his wife Jolene Allred Frier, his children, Daughter Shelly Gurney, Son Jeff (Jennifer) Frier, Daughter Shauna (Troy) Hales and son-in-law Casey Gurney, his 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. We have no doubt that Gene is up in heaven running around with his 12th great-grandchild that will be joining us earth-side in April.
Although many are heartbroken at this time, Gene is finally free from all of the pain and suffering he endured for many years.
A celebration of life will be held in the honor of Gene Frier on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm for family and friends at the Edgewater Clubhouse, 282 North 725 East, Vineyard, Utah. Light refreshments will be served. Parking is limited.
