Charles Booth Miller

Charles “Chuck” Booth Miller was born on April 28, 1928 in Wellsville, Utah to Job Elias Perkins Miller and Elizabeth Reader Booth Miller. He passed on February 9, 2022 in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the age of 97

Chuck grew up on the family farm in Drummond Montana. He graduated from Drummond High School and joined the United States Army with his best friend and soon to be Brother-in-law Eugene Baker… He served during World War II in the Pacific Campaign in Korea and the Philippines and at the Presido in California. he married Ellen on a leave from the service on February 3, 1946 .. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple.

After he attended electrical college in Illinois. Chuck and Ellen made their home in Missoula, Montana. It was there that 4 of their children were born, Chuck worked in electrical and started building custom homes in Missoula which was a profession that he loved. He taught himself to draw house plans in his home office with plastic templates, rulers and a T square before the industry changed because of computers. He then built each home “from the ground up” Many of those who purchased homes from him became his lifelong friends.

Due to the slowdown in Montana to build homes the family moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. to become one of the first settlers in this town in 1968. In 1973 Chuck was offered the opportunity to build homes in Utah alongside his oldest son. They relocated to American Fork, Utah moving into a home that Chuck built “after the framing was done.”  Chuck and Ellen found friendship and love and support in their neighborhood and their ward.

Chuck continued to work until he was 80 years old. At 82, he suffered a stroke and 6 years later Ellen passed away. The family and the neighborhood continued to offer love and support to Chuck. It was important to him to be able to live in his own home among his friends and family. His children did their best to honor his request, but with the effects of advancing age taking a toll. He chose to move to Colorado to be able to live with his youngest son, his wife, Debbie and their children and grandchildren…

Chuck was a kind, hard-working, humble, soft-spoken man with a wonderful sense of humor. He loved his Father in Heaven, his family, this nation and his friends. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He taught his family by his example to serve others and to appreciate the freedoms we have in this country. He was proud to be a life-long member of the American Legion Hellgate Post 27 and also the 40/8 where he served in many capacities. He loved BYU Sports–especially BYU Basketball and Football. He enjoyed filling his family room with supporters and close friends for the games. He also loved his Hot Chocolate, Carrot pudding, Mincemeat and Pumpkin pie and his Cocoa Puffs. His wonderful sense of humor has given us memories we can share for generations.

He is survived by his daughter, Darlene Miller, American Fork, Utah, his son Russell (Jan) Miller, American Fork, Utah, his daughter Sherryl (Rod) Likes, Eagle Idaho, his son Dwight “Duey” (Debbie) Miller, Monument, Colorado. He is also missed by his 12 grandchildren, his 20 Great-grandchildren and 1 Great Great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife Ellen, his parents Job and Elizabeth Miller, 2 sisters Leila Miller and Ilene Magnussen, 2 brothers Heber and Vernon Miller, his daughter Shirley Marie Miller, and his granddaughter Aubrey Anne Likes.

He strongly believed that Families are part of Heavenly Father’s eternal plan and that all will be more beautiful when he is reunited again with his family and friends…

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 4, 2022 at the American Fork Stake Center Chapel, 825 East 500 North in American Fork. A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah. An additional viewing will be held on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church prior to services. Interment will be at the Utah Veteran’s Memorial Park Cemetery in Bluffdale following services with Military Honors provided.
