Mary Ellen Nelson Brady

1932 – 2022

Mary Ellen Nelson Brady, 90, of Highland, Utah, died of causes incident to advanced age in American Fork, Utah, on September 13, 2022. She was born in Moroni, Utah, on April 29, 1932, to Justin and Clara Stark Nelson. She married Con H. Brady in the Manti Temple on August 15, 1950. They have three sons: Frederick Ray, Paul Louis, and John Kay.

The family lived for ten years in Orem, Utah, and briefly in Milpitas, California. They finally settled in Highland, where Mary lived for 51 years. She held several church positions over the years, including Primary and Sunday School teacher and meeting house librarian. She earned her bachelor’s degree at BYU and taught at the State Training School in Highland for several years. Con died in 2014, and in February 2020 Mary moved to the Beehive Home in American Fork. The family expresses its thanks to the staff there for the kind care she received.

Mary is survived by her three sons, her sister Carma Horne, eleven grandchildren, and 38 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Don Nelson, and sister Georgia Peterson. The family especially thanks good friends Dr. Von Welch, former bishops Plinio Pimentel, Curtis Edwards, and Mark Bird, and many other friends, doctors, and nurses whose care and visits made her last years happy ones.

Funeral services for Mary will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Highland 18th Ward Chapel, located at 4679 West 11000 North, Highland, Utah. Family and friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the church. Interment will be at the Highland City Cemetery.
